A method for producing an optically active amino alcohol compound of the formula [3], an enantiomer thereof or a salt thereof, comprising reacting a mesoepoxide compound of the formula [1] with a compound of the formula [2] in the presence of a mixed catalyst comprising a Lewis acid and a proton donor: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each H, an optionally substituted lower alky, and the like, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.1 or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may form an optionally substituted ring; and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are each H, an optionally substituted lower alkyl, and the like, or R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 may form an optionally substituted ring together with the adjacent N, or an imide group or azide group together with the adjacent N, and R.sup.6 is H or a silyl group. The present invention enables stereoselective production of a desired intermediate compound, which is an HIV protease inhibitor, extremely efficiently as compared to conventional methods. The method of the present invention is a very useful method which can be used not only for the production of said intermediate compound but also for the production of various other compounds.

Eine Methode für das Produzieren eines optisch aktiven Aminospiritusmittels der Formel [ 3 ], des Enantiomers davon oder des Salzes davon, enthalten, ein mesoepoxide Mittel der Formel [ 1 ] mit einem Mittel der Formel [ 2 ] in Anwesenheit eines Mischkatalysators reagierend, der ein Lewis-Säure und einen Protonspender enthält: ## STR1 ## worin R.sup.1, R.sup.2 und R.sup.3 sind, können jedes H, ein beliebig ersetztes niedrigeres alky und dergleichen oder R.sup.1 und R.sup.1 oder R.sup.2 und R.sup.3 einen beliebig ersetzten Ring bilden; und R.sup.4 und R.sup.5 sind jedes H, ein beliebig ersetztes untereres Alkyl und dergleichen, oder R.sup.4 und R.sup.5 können einen beliebig ersetzten Ring zusammen mit dem angrenzenden N oder eine Imidgruppe oder Azidgruppe bilden zusammen mit dem angrenzenden N, und R.sup.6 ist H oder eine Silylgruppe. Die anwesende Erfindung ermöglicht stereoselective Produktion eines gewünschten Zwischenmittels, das ein HIV Proteasehemmnis ist, extrem leistungsfähig verglichen mit herkömmlichen Methoden. Die Methode der anwesenden Erfindung ist eine sehr nützliche Methode, die nicht nur für die Produktion des besagten Zwischenmittels aber auch für die Produktion der vielen Mittel verwendet werden kann.
