The invention relates to the compounds of formula I: ##STR1## wherein one of X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 is MeSO.sub.2 and the other one is hydrogen or halogen and X.sub.3 is hydrogen or halogen. These compounds have been found to be useful in the prevention and the treatment of respiratory diseases, especially asthma, ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases), allergic rhinitis and related inflammatory conditions. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of said compound in the prevention and the treatment of asthma in steroid-resistant patients. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical formulations used in the treatment of said diseases.

L'invenzione riguarda i residui della formula I: ## del ## STR1 in cui uno di X.sub.1 e di X.sub.2 è MeSO.sub.2 ed altro è idrogeno o l'alogeno e X.sub.3 è idrogeno o alogeno. Questi residui sono stati trovati per essere utili nella prevenzione e nel trattamento delle malattie respiratorie, particolarmente asma, ARDS (sindrome respiratoria acuta di afflizione), COPD (malattie polmonari ostruttive croniche), rhinitis allergico e circostanze infiammatorie riferite. Più specificamente, l'invenzione riguarda l'uso del residuo detto nella prevenzione ed il trattamento di asma in pazienti steroide-resistenti. L'invenzione inoltre si riferisce alle formulazioni farmaceutiche usate nel trattamento delle malattie dette.
