A rational technical process for producing dialkylnaphthalenes from petroleum-derived starting materials which exist in abundance is established. The process for producing dialkylnaphthalenes contains the steps (1), (2), (3), and (4): (1) 1.sup.st step which is for catalytically hydrodealkylating a stock oil containing a substantial amount of naphthalene and/or alkylnapthalenes, separating a product oil form a product gas, and separating and recovering a fraction composed mainly of naphthalene and/or methylnaphthalene from the product oil; (2) 2.sup.nd step which is for catalytically alkylating or catalytically transalkylating the fraction, recovered in the 1.sup.st step, composed mainly of naphthalene and/or methylnaphthalene directly without pretreatment for purification, with an alkylating agent or transalkylating agent to prepare alkylnaphthalenes; (3) 3.sup.rd step which is for separating and recovering dialkylnaphthalenes from the alkylnaphthalenes obtained in the 2.sup.nd step; and (4) 4.sup.th step which is for returning at least a part of the residual fraction, after the separation and recovery of dialkylnaphthalenes in the 3.sup.rd step, as at least a part of the stock oil in the 1.sup.st step and/or at least part of the alkylating agent or transalkylating agent in the 2.sup.nd step to the corresponding step.

Een rationeel technisch proces om dialkylnaphthalenes uit van aardolie afgeleide beginnende materialen te produceren die in overvloed bestaan wordt gevestigd. Het proces om te produceren dialkylnaphthalenes bevat stappen (1), (2), (3), en (4): (1) de 1.sup.ste stap die voor katalytisch het hydrodealkylating van een voorraadolie is die een wezenlijke hoeveelheid die naftaleen bevat en/of alkylnapthalenes, een productolie scheidt vormt een productgas, en het scheiden van en terugkrijgend een fractie die hoofdzakelijk uit naftaleen en/of methylnaphthalene wordt samengesteld van de productolie; (2) 2.sup.ste stap die voor katalytisch katalytisch het alkylating van of transalkylating de fractie is, die in de 1.sup.ste stap wordt teruggekregen, die hoofdzakelijk uit naftaleen en/of methylnaphthalene direct zonder voorbehandeling voor reiniging, met een alkylating agent wordt samengesteld of het transalkylating van agent alkylnaphthalenes voor te bereiden; (3) de 3.sup.ste stap die voor het scheiden en het terugkrijgen dialkylnaphthalenes van alkylnaphthalenes is verkreeg in de 2.sup.ste stap; en (4) 4.sup.ste stap die voor het terugkeren van minstens een deel van de overblijvende fractie, na de scheiding en de terugwinning van dialkylnaphthalenes in de 3.sup.ste stap, als minstens deel van de voorraadolie in de 1.sup.ste stap en/of minstens deel van de alkylating agent of het transalkylating van agent in de 2.sup.ste stap aan de overeenkomstige stap is.
