This invention provides, low molecular weight, non-peptide inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases and TNF-.alpha. converting enzyme (TACE, tumor necrosis factor-.alpha. converting enzyme) of formula: B wherein B is ##STR1## P and Q are ##STR2## provided that when P is ##STR3## Q is ##STR4## and vice versa; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

Diese Erfindung stellt, niedermolekulares Gewicht, Nichtpeptid Hemmnisse von Matrix metalloproteinases und TNF-.alpha. von umwandelndem Enzym (TACE, umwandelndes Enzym der Tumornekrose factor-.alpha.) der Formel zur Verfügung: B worin B ist, ## STR1 sind ## P und Q ## STR2 ##, vorausgesetzt daß, wenn P ist, ## STR3 ## Q ## STR4 ## und umgekehrt ist; oder ein pharmazeutisch annehmbares Salz davon.
