A PDA has a base with a recessed handset cradle and a handset with a shape complementary to the configuration of the cradle. A power storage device is included within the handset and a power supply device is included within the base. For on-the-road use, the handset is configured to be removably secured within the cradle in a substantially flush configuration with the base. For office use, the handset is configured to be removably secured to the base in a substantially non-flush configuration that is easy for a user to grasp. The power storage device can receive power from the power supply device when the handset is in either a flush or non-flush configuration.
