A hair-treating composition containing a diester or polyester of a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid having compound formula (I) or (II), or mixtures; for imparting gloss and/or hair color stabilization: ##STR1## wherein each R.sub.1, same or different, is an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, a diol having the structure HO--R.sup.2 --OH, or a polyglycol having the structure HO--R.sup.3 --(--O--R.sup.2 --).sub.m --OH, wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, same or different, are each an alkylene group, sight chain or branched, having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and wherein m and n are each 1 to about 100, or a mixture thereof. These diesters and polyesters of formula (I) or (II) are quite effective in stabilizing the dibenzoylmethane derivative UV-A filter compounds making them more effective, and effective for longer periods of time.

Una composizione capelli-trattante che contiene un diestere o un poliestere di un acido dicarbossilico del naftalene che ha formula compound (i) o (ii), o miscele; per la comunicazione lucentezza e/o della stabilizzazione di colore dei capelli: ## del ## STR1 in cui ogni R.sub.1, stessi o differente, è un gruppo alchile che ha 1 - 22 atomi di carbonio, un diol che ha la struttura HO -- R.sup.2 --OH, o un poliglicole che ha la struttura HO -- R.sup.3 -- (-- O -- R.sup.2 --).sub.m --OH, in cui R.sup.2 e R.sup.3, stessi o differente, sono ogni un gruppo dell'alchilene, avvistano la catena o ramificato, avendo 1 - 6 atomi di carbonio ed in cui la m. e la n sono ogni 1 a circa 100, o una mescolanza. Questi diesteri e poliesteri della formula (i) o (ii) sono abbastanza efficaci nella stabilizzazione dei residui derivative del filtro del dibenzoylmethane UV-A che li rendono più efficaci ed efficaci per i periodi di tempo più lunghi.
