A retrieval system and method which allows a computer system to adjust the data retrieval start times of the data retrieval requests from the different users in order to achieve overall system objectives. Each user is assigned a percentage availability which then determines a factor for all of the applications run by that user. This factor is associated with each request for data retrieval from any application. For any given batch of data requests there is calculated a start time for each data request, with the start time dependent upon the assigned factor. The start times from all users for that batch are then ordered in accordance with the calculated start times. The system will reorder the start times when efficient operation requires such reordering.

Un sistema e un metodo di ricerca dell'informazione che permette che un sistema di elaborazione registri i tempi di inizio di reperimento dei dati delle richieste di reperimento dei dati dagli utenti differenti per realizzare gli obiettivi del sistema generale. Ad ogni utente è assegnato una disponibilità di percentuale che allora determina un fattore per tutte le applicazioni fatte funzionare da quell'utente. Questo fattore è associato con ogni richiesta per reperimento dei dati da tutta l'applicazione. Per tutta la data serie di richieste di dati è calcolato un tempo di inizio per ogni richiesta di dati, con il dipendente di tempo di inizio sul fattore assegnato. I tempi di inizio da tutti gli utenti per quel batch allora sono ordinati in conformità con i tempi di inizio calcolati. Il sistema riordinerà i tempi di inizio in cui il funzionamento efficiente richiede tale riordinazione.
