Novel folic acid derivatives and their use in preparation of .gamma.-esters of folic acid via a pteroyl azide intermediate are described. Folic acid .gamma.-esters are useful intermediates in the synthesis of folic acid conjugates capable of binding folate receptors in vitro and in vivo.

Fol- Säurederivate des Romans und ihr Gebrauch in der Vorbereitung der Gamma.ester der Fol- Säure über einen pteroyl Azidvermittler wird beschrieben. Fol- saure Gamma.ester sind nützliche Vermittler in der Synthese der Fol- sauren Paronyme, die zu Folatempfänger in vitro und in vivo binden fähig sind.
