The invention relates to an aqueous solution or dispersion with high shellac content. The aqueous shellac solution or dispersion is characterized in that it has a pH value of 2 to 4.2, and contains: 1 to 60% wt. shellac; 0.1 to 3% wt. of at least one water-soluble film former; 0.1 to 1% wt. of at least acid-resistant gel former; and water bringing the total to 100% wt. In accordance with the invention, the solution is produced by the following method: particle-shaped shellac is added to an aqueous solution and homogenized by stirring at 10 to 1500 rev/min., at a temperature of 5 to 20.degree. C. The aqueous solution has a pH value of 2 to 4.2 and contains at least one water-soluble film former and at least one acid-resistant gel former. The shellac solution or dispersion can be used in the paint and varnish industry, the food industry and in cosmetics.

Die Erfindung bezieht auf einer wässerigen Lösung oder einer Zerstreuung mit hohem Schellackinhalt. Die wäßrige Schellacklösung oder -zerstreuung wird dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie einen pH-Wert von 2 bis 4.2 hat und enthält: 1 bis 60% Gew.schellack; 0.1 bis 3% Gewicht. von mindestens einem wasserlöslichen Film ehemalig; 0.1 bis 1% Gewicht. mindestens vom säurebeständigen Gel ehemalig; und Wasser, welches die Gesamtmenge zum 100%-Gewicht holt. In Übereinstimmung mit der Erfindung wird die Lösung durch die folgende Methode produziert: Partikel-geformter Schellack wird einer wässerigen Lösung hinzugefügt und homogenisiert, indem man bei 10 bis 1500 rev/min., bei einer Temperatur von 5 zu 20.degree sich rührt. C. Die wässerige Lösung hat einen pH-Wert von 2 bis 4.2 und enthält mindestens einen wasserlöslichen Film, der ehemalig sind und mindestens ein säurebeständiges ehemaliges Gel. Die Schellacklösung oder -zerstreuung können in der Farbe und Lackindustrie, die Lebensmittelindustrie und in den Kosmetik benutzt werden.
