A lithography chuck (100) holds a flat object (150), such as a semiconductor wafer (150) at the backside (152). The chuck has, supported on a base plate (105), a plurality of pins (110-n) to receive partial forces (F.sub.n) from the backside (152) and a plurality of piezoelectric elements (120-n) attached to the pins to sense the partial forces (F.sub.n) applied from the object (150) to the pins (110-n). The piezoelectric elements (120-n) apply partial displacements (B.sub.n) of the pins (110-n) to act on selected areas of the object (150) and thereby compensate for irregularities in the backside contour.

Eine Lithographieklemme (100) hält einen flachen Gegenstand (150), wie ein Halbleiterplättchen (150) an der Rückseite (152). Die Klemme hat, gestützt auf eine Grundplatte (105), eine Mehrzahl der Stifte (110-n) um teilweise Kräfte (F.sub.n) von der Rückseite (152) zu empfangen und eine Mehrzahl der piezoelektrischen Elemente (120-n) angebracht zu den Stiften, um die teilweisen Kräfte (F.sub.n) abzufragen aufgewendet vom Gegenstand (150) an den Stiften (110-n). Die piezoelektrischen Elemente (120-n) wenden teilweise Versetzungen (B.sub.n) der Stifte (110-n) an der Tat auf vorgewählten Bereichen des Gegenstandes (150) an und entschädigen dadurch Unregelmäßigkeiten in der Rückseite Form.
