The present invention relates to .beta.-hCG, particularly .beta.-hCG proteins having a sequence of amino acids 41-54, 45-54, 47-53, 45-57 and 45-58 and analogs and derivatives thereof. The invention further relates to methods of treatment and prevention of HIV infection by administration of a therapeutic compound of the invention. Such therapeutic compounds include hCG, .beta.-hCG and .beta.-hCG peptides, analogs and derivatives of hCG, .beta.-hCG and .beta.-hCG peptides, and nucleic acids encoding hCG, .beta.-hCG and .beta.-hCG peptides. In a preferred embodiment, .beta.-hCG peptides, particularly .beta.-hCG peptides of amino acids 47-53, 45-57 or 45-58 are administered to a subject for treatment or prevention of HIV infection in that subject. The invention also provides methods for screening hCG preparations for activity in treating or preventing HIV infection. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods of administration of Therapeutics are also provided.

Die anwesende Erfindung bezieht auf beta.-hCG, besonders die beta.-hCG Proteine, die eine Reihenfolge der Aminosäuren 41-54, 45-54, 47-53, 45-57 und 45-58 und Entsprechungen und Ableitungen davon haben. Die weitere Erfindung bezieht auf Behandlungsmethoden und Verhinderung der HIV Infektion durch Leitung eines therapeutischen Mittels der Erfindung. Solche therapeutische Mittel schließen hCG, beta.-hCG und beta.-hCG Peptide, Entsprechungen und Ableitungen von hCG, beta.-hCG und beta.-hCG Peptide und Nukleinsäuren, die hCG, beta.-hCG und beta.-hCG Peptide kodieren mit ein. In einer bevorzugten Verkörperung werden beta.-hCG Peptide, besonders beta.-hCG Peptide der Aminosäuren 47-53, 45-57 oder 45-58 zu einem Thema für Behandlung oder zur Verhinderung der HIV Infektion in diesem Thema ausgeübt. Die Erfindung stellt auch Methoden für das Aussortieren der hCG Vorbereitungen für Tätigkeit in dem Behandeln zur Verfügung oder von von HIV Infektion verhindernd. Pharmazeutischer Aufbau und Methoden der Leitung von Therapeutik werden auch zur Verfügung gestellt.
