Pharmaceutical composition containing aryl (sulfide, sulfoxide, sulfone)
derivatives of the formula (1) and the salts thereof as active ingredient

--CONR.sup.9 --, --NR.sup.9 CO--, --OCO--,--COO--, --CH.sub.2 --O--,
--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --, vinylene, ethynylene; J is bond, alkylene; A is H,
alkyl, Ar, alkyl-OH ; R.sup.3, R.sup.4 is H, alkyl, COOR.sup.19, hydroxy,
--NR.sub.20 R.sup.21,

Ar.sub.1 etc.); R.sup.5, R.sup.6 is H, methyl) and the novel aryl (sulfide,
sulfoxide, sulfone) derivatives of the formula (I).

The compounds of the formula (I) have inhibitory activity against matrix
metalloproteinases, therefore, the compounds of the formula (I) are useful
for prevention and/or treatment of rheumatoid diseases, arthrosteitis,
unusual bone resorption, osteoporosis, periodontitis, interstitial
nephritis, arteriosclerosis, pulmonary emphysema, cirrhosis, cornea
injury, autoimmune diseases, diseases caused by vascular emigration or
infiltration of leukocytes, arterialization etc.
Pharmazeutischer Aufbau, der Aryl- enthält (Sulfid, Sulfoxid, Sulfon) Ableitungen der Formel (1) und die Salze davon als Aktivsubstanz (worin R.sup.1 H ist, Alkyl; R.sup.2 ist COOR.sup.7, CONHOR.sup.8; E ist -- CONR.sup.9 --. -- NR.sup.9 Co --. -- oco --, -- Gurren --. -- CH.sub.2 --O --. -- (CH.sub.2).sub.2 --. vinylene, ethynylene; J ist, Alken Bond; A ist H, Alkyl, Ar, Alkyl-OH-; R.sup.3, R.sup.4 ist H, Alkyl, COOR.sup.19, Hydroxyl-, -- NR.sub.20 R.sup.21, ## STR1 ## Ar.sub.1 usw..); R.sup.5, R.sup.6 ist H) und die Aryl- (Sulfid, Sulfoxid, Sulfon) Ableitungen des Romans der Formel Methyl- (I). ## STR2 ## Die Mittel der Formel (i) haben hemmende Tätigkeit gegen Matrix metalloproteinases, folglich sind die Mittel der Formel (i) für Verhinderung und/oder Behandlung von rheumatoid Krankheiten, von arthrosteitis, von ungewöhnlicher Knochenaufnahme, von Osteoporose, von periodontitis, von zwischenräumlicher Nephritis, von Arteriosklerose, von Lungenemphysem, von zirrhose, von Hornhautverletzung, von Autoimmunkrankheiten, von Krankheiten, die durch GefäßAuswanderung oder Infiltration der Leukozyten verursacht werden, von arterialization usw. nützlich.
