A method and apparatus in a data processing system for generating object code. A source code is received for compilation. A parameter is received, wherein the parameter indicates that a portion of the object code that is to be generated from a translation of the source code into an object code format only is to be interpreted. The source code is compiled into object code. An indication is created for the portion of the object code that only is to be interpreted.
