A semiconductor particle has a surface on which a methine dye is adsorbed.
The methine dye is represented by the formula (I).

single bond, Y.sup.2 is --O--, --S--, --Se--, --NR.sup.5 --, --CR.sup.6

--CR.sup.3.dbd.CR.sup.4 --, Y.sup.2 is a single bond; each of R.sup.1 and
R.sup.2 independently is an aliphatic group or an aromatic group; and each
of P.sup.1 and P.sup.2 independently is .dbd.L.sup.1 --Bo,
.dbd.L.sup.2.dbd.Ak or .dbd.L.sup.3 --Ar. A photoelectric material using
the particles and a photoelectric conversion device using the material are
also disclosed.
