Succinoylamino hydroxyethylamino sulfonyl urea derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein the substituents are as defined in the specification, are effective as retroviral protease inhibitors, and in particular as inhibitors of HIV protease.

Derivati dell'urea di sulfonyl di hydroxyethylamino di Succinoylamino della formula: ## del ## STR1 in cui i sostituenti sono come definiti nella specifica, sia efficace come inibitori retroviral della proteasi ed in particolare come inibitori della proteasi del HIV.
