A method for determining the concentration of hydrogen ion, organic anionic species and anionic species selected from the group consisting of OH.sup.-, CO.sub.3.sup..dbd., HS.sup.-, ClO.sub.3.sup.-, SO.sub.4.sup..dbd., S.sub.2 O.sub.3.sup..dbd., polysulphide and peroxide in an aqueous sample solution, said method comprising subjecting said solution to near infrared radiation at a wavelength region of wave numbers selected from about 7,000 to 14,000 cm.sup.-1 through a solution path length of at least 3 mm to obtain spectral data for said solution; obtaining comparative spectral data for said anionic species at known concentrations in aqueous solutions; and correlating by multivariate calibration the relationships between said spectral data of said sample solution and said comparative spectral data to determine said concentration of said anionic species in said sample solution. The method is of particular value for use with pulp liquor determination and control in regards to the rapid and accurate determination of the OH.sup.-, HS.sup.-, CO.sub.3.sup..dbd., ClO.sub.3.sup.-, SO.sub.4.sup..dbd., S.sub.2 O.sub.3.sup..dbd., polysulphide and peroxide anionic species, hydrogen cation and of organic species present in pulp liquor.

Een methode om de concentratie van geselecteerd waterstofion, organische anionische soorten en anionische soorten van de groep te bepalen die uit OH.sup. bestaat -, CO.sub.3.sup..dbd., HS.sup. -, ClO.sub.3.sup. -, SO.sub.4.sup..dbd., zeiden S.sub.2 O.sub.3.sup..dbd., polysulphide en het peroxyde in een waterige steekproefoplossing, methode bestaand uit onderwerpend bovengenoemde oplossing aan dichtbij infrarode straling bij een golflengtegebied van golfaantallen die uit ongeveer 7.000 tot 14.000 cm.sup.-1 door een lengte van de oplossingsweg van minstens 3 mm worden geselecteerd spectrale gegevens voor bovengenoemde oplossing te verkrijgen; het verkrijgen van vergelijkende spectrale gegevens voor bovengenoemde anionische soorten bij bekende concentraties in oplossingen in water; en correlerend door multivariate kaliberbepaling zei het verband tussen bovengenoemde spectrale gegevens van bovengenoemde steekproefoplossing en bovengenoemde vergelijkende spectrale te bepalen gegevens concentratie van bovengenoemde anionische soorten in bovengenoemde steekproefoplossing. De methode is van bijzondere waarde voor gebruik met de bepaling en de controle van de pulpalcoholische drank met betrekking tot de snelle en nauwkeurige bepaling van OH.sup. -, HS.sup. -, CO.sub.3.sup..dbd., ClO.sub.3.sup. -, SO.sub.4.sup..dbd., S.sub.2 O.sub.3.sup..dbd., polysulphide en peroxyde anionische soorten, waterstofkation en van organische soorten huidig in pulpalcoholische drank.
