An apparatus and method for measuring indicator concentration time curves
optically from a living organism using a single wavelength, by comparing
the optical density before and after injection of the indicator and by
selectively utilizing the values of the concentration of blood hemoglobin,
blood oxygen saturation, or the mean optical pathlength in the
computation. Whereby, physiological parameters such as cardiac output,
blood flow and blood volume can be calculated by analyzing the indicator
concentration time curves.
