The present invention provides compounds comprising propynyl uracils having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, fluorine, --CN, substituted or unsubstituted linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, --NO.sub.2, methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy, or iso-propoxy; R.sup.2 is iodine or bromine; and R.sup.3 is propynyl, 3-iodopropynyl, 3-bromopropynyl, substituted or unsubstituted 2-furanyl, substituted or unsubstituted 3-furanyl, substituted or unsubstituted 2-pyrrolidinyl, substituted or unsubstituted 3-pyrrolidinyl, D-ribose, or deoxyribose. Another embodiment of the invention encompasses propynyl uracils having the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.4 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, fluorine, --CN, substituted or unsubstituted linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, --NO.sub.2, methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy, or iso-propoxy; R.sup.5 is hydrogen or propynyl; and R.sup.6 is iodine or bromine. Also, methods of preparing these propynyl uracils are provided. The propynyl uracils of the present invention are useful as biocides, including, but not limited to, bactericides, fungicides, and preservatives.

Die anwesende Erfindung liefert die Mittel, welche die propynyl uracils enthalten, die das Formel ## STR1 ## haben, worin R.sup.1 Wasserstoff, Chlor, Brom, Jod, Fluor, --CN, ersetztes oder nicht ersetztes lineares oder ausgebrittenes C.sub.1 - Alkyl C.sub.4 ist, -- NO.sub.2, Methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy oder ISO-PROPOXY; R.sup.2 ist Jod oder Brom; _ und R.sup.3 sein propynyl, 3-iodopropynyl, 3-bromopropynyl, ersetzen oder nicht ersetzt 2-furanyl, ersetzen oder nicht ersetzt 3-furanyl, ersetzen oder nicht ersetzt 2-pyrrolidinyl, ersetzen oder nicht ersetzt 3-pyrrolidinyl, D-Ribose, oder deoxyribose. Eine andere Verkörperung der Erfindung gibt die propynyl uracils um, die das Formel ## STR2 ## haben, worin R.sup.4 Wasserstoff, Chlor, Brom, Jod, Fluor, --CN, ersetztes oder nicht ersetztes lineares oder ausgebrittenes C.sub.1 - Alkyl C.sub.4 ist, -- NO.sub.2, Methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy oder ISO-PROPOXY; R.sup.5 ist Wasserstoff oder propynyl; und R.sup.6 ist Jod oder Brom. Auch Methoden des Vorbereitens dieser propynyl uracils werden zur Verfügung gestellt. Die propynyl uracils der anwesenden Erfindung sind als Biozide, einschließlich nützlich, aber begrenzt nicht auf, Bakterizide, Fungizide und Konservierungsmittel.
