Even if a power source is cut OFF while a failure is present and then the power source is turned back ON with the failure uncorrected, the details of the same failure will not be recorded as failure history data, thus permitting correct failure history data to be stored. In an on-vehicle controller failure diagnosing method in which, if a vehicle failure happens, the time at which the failure happened and the details of the failure are stored as failure history data, the details of a detected failure are stored as failure history data only if the details of the failure which existed when the power source of the on-vehicle controller was cut OFF are different from the details of the failure detected during a failure diagnosis carried out when the power source is turned back ON. Further, it is determined, during the failure diagnosis carried out after the power source of the on-vehicle controller is turned ON, whether the cause of a failure which existed when the power source was cut OFF has been eliminated, and if the cause is found to be eliminated, then it is determined that the failure which existed when the power source was cut OFF has been completely corrected, and the result is stored as failure history data.

Anche se una fonte di energia è tagliata mentre un guasto è presente ed allora la fonte di energia è girata indietro SOPRA con il guasto non riveduto, i particolari dello stesso guasto non saranno registrati dei dati di storia di guasto, così consentendo i dati corretti di storia di guasto di essere memorizzato. In un metodo di diagnostica di guasto del regolatore del su-veicolo in cui, se un guasto del veicolo accade, il tempo a où il guasto è accaduto ed i particolari del guasto sono immagazzinati come dati di storia di guasto, i particolari di un guasto rilevato sono immagazzinati come dati di storia di guasto soltanto se i particolari del guasto che ha esistito quando la fonte di energia del regolatore del su-veicolo è stata tagliata sono differenti dai particolari del guasto rilevato durante la diagnosi di guasto effettuata quando la fonte di energia è girata indietro SOPRA. Più ulteriormente, è determinato, durante la diagnosi di guasto effettuata dopo che la fonte di energia del regolatore del su-veicolo sia accesa, se la causa di un guasto che ha esistito quando la fonte di energia è stata tagliata è stata eliminata e se la causa è trovata per essere eliminata, quindi è determinato che il guasto che ha esistito quando la fonte di energia è stata tagliata completamente sia stato corretto ed il risultato è immagazzinato come dati di storia di guasto.
