A method of treating an aqueous stream having inorganic material dissolved therein, the method comprising the steps of: (a) adding organic solvent to the aqueous stream in an amount effective to form an inorganic precipitate comprising at least a portion of the inorganic material; (b) removing at least most of the organic solvent from the aqueous stream by vacuum membrane distillation; and (c) after step (b), removing at least most of the inorganic precipitate from the aqueous stream.

Eine Methode des Behandelns eines wäßrigen Stromes, der anorganisches Material darin sich auflösen läßt, die Methode enthält die Schritte von: (a), organisches Lösungsmittel dem wäßrigen Strom in einer Menge hinzufügend wirkungsvoll, einen anorganischen Niederschlag zu bilden, der an wenigem einen Teil vom anorganischen Material enthält; (b) Entfernen mindestens die meisten des organischen Lösungsmittels vom wäßrigen Strom durch Vakuummembrane Destillation; und (c) nach Schritt (b), mindestens die meisten des anorganischen Niederschlags vom wäßrigen Strom entfernend.
