A method is provided for synthesizing metallocene compounds useful as polymerization catalysts and the like. The method involves (a) preparation of an amino alcohol-derived ligand by reacting a silane reactant with an amino alcohol in the presence of base, followed by (b) metallation of the ligand so provided. The metallocenes may be provided in chiral form when the amino alcohol contains an asymmetric center, and are thus useful in catalyzing stereospecific polymerization and other stereospecific bond formation reactions.

Een methode wordt verstrekt voor het samenstellen van metallocene samenstellingen nuttig als polymerisatiekatalysators en dergelijke. De methode houdt (a) voorbereiding van amino in alcohol-afgeleid ligand door een reagerende silaanreactant met een aminoalcohol in aanwezigheid van basis, die door (b) metallation van zo verstrekte ligand wordt gevolgd. Metallocenes kunnen in chiral vorm worden verstrekt wanneer de aminoalcohol een asymmetrisch centrum bevat, en zijn zo nuttig in het katalyseren van stereospecific polymerisatie en andere stereospecific reacties van de bandvorming.
