Polyacetylene compounds and process for the preparation thereof from a chiral dihydroxy amide are described. The compounds preferably have diacyl groups attached to the amide. The compounds are useful for making films which are electrically conductive, near infrared absorbing, polarizing, and have the optical characteristic and other properties of polyacetylenes.

Polyacetylene Mittel und Prozeß für die Vorbereitung davon von einem chiralen Dihydroxy- Amid werden beschrieben. Die Mittel haben vorzugsweise die diacyl Gruppen, die zum Amid angebracht werden. Die Mittel sind für das Bilden der Filme nützlich, die elektrisch, nahe dem Infrarotaufsaugen leitend sind und polarisieren, und haben die optischen charakteristischen und anderen Eigenschaften von polyacetylenes.
