Metal cyanide catalysts are prepared by first forming a precipitate using no more than a stoichiometric amount of a water-soluble metal salt of the form M.sub.x A.sub.y, based on the amount of metal cyanide compound that is used. The precipitate is then treated with an additional quantity of a metal salt of the form M.sup.3.sub.x A.sub.y, in which M.sup.3 may be the same as or different than M. The catalyst is treated with a complexing agent, either during the precipitation step or during the subsequent treatment with the M.sup.3.sub.x A.sub.y salt.

Os catalizadores do cianido do metal são preparados primeiramente dando forma a um precipitate não usando não mais do que uma quantidade stoichiometric de um sal water-soluble do metal do formulário M.sub.x A.sub.y, baseado na quantidade de composto do cianido do metal que é usado.
