The present invention provides a graft copolymer of a syndiotactic styrene/para-alkylstyrene copolymer, having the formula of ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, and primary and secondary haloalkyl; X is a functional group selected from a group containing halogen, oxygen, sulfur, silicon, nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus, and mixtures thereof; Y is an atactic polymer moiety; a ranges from 10 to 30000; b ranges from 0 to 30000; c ranges from 0 to 30000; and d ranges from 1 to 30000. The compatibility of the graft copolymer of syndiotactic styrene/para-alkylstyrene copolymer of the present invention with other polymers is improved over a syndiotactic styrene polymer. Also, the graft copolymer of the present invention can serve as a compatibilizer for a polymer blend.

La actual invención proporciona un copolímero del injerto de un copolímero syndiotactic de styrene/para-alkylstyrene, teniendo el fórmula del ## del ## STR1 en donde R.sup.1 y R.sup.2 se seleccionan independientemente del hidrógeno que consiste en del grupo, del alkyl, y del haloalkyl primario y secundario; X es un grupo funcional seleccionado de un grupo que contiene el halógeno, el oxígeno, el sulfuro, el silicio, el nitrógeno, el carbón, el fósforo, y mezclas de eso; Y es un moiety atáctiso del polímero; se extiende a partir del 10 a 30000; b se extiende a partir de la 0 a 30000; c se extiende a partir de la 0 a 30000; y d se extiende a partir de la 1 a 30000. La compatibilidad del copolímero del injerto del copolímero syndiotactic de styrene/para-alkylstyrene de la actual invención con otros polímeros se mejora sobre un polímero syndiotactic del estireno. También, el copolímero del injerto de la actual invención puede servir como compatibilizer para una mezcla del polímero.
