An apparatus for fabricating an integrated circuit device comprises an enclosure housing a processing chamber and having a gas inlet for receiving process gases into the processing chamber and a gas outlet for discharging the process gases. A pedestal is disposed within the processing chamber for supporting a wafer thereon. A chamber liner at least partially surrounds the pedestal and includes inner and outer portions. The inner portion comprises a material that is substantially resistant to the process gases at temperatures of at least about 400.degree. C. The outer portion comprises an insulating material for decreasing a thermal gradient between the perimeter of the wafer and the enclosure.

Un appareil pour fabriquer un dispositif de circuit intégré comporte une clôture logeant une chambre de traitement et ayant une admission de gaz pour des gaz de procédé de réception dans la chambre de traitement et une sortie de gaz pour décharger les gaz de processus. Un piédestal est disposé dans la chambre de traitement pour soutenir une gaufrette là-dessus. Un recouvrement de chambre entoure au moins partiellement le piédestal et inclut les parties intérieures et externes. La partie intérieure comporte un matériel qui est essentiellement résistant aux gaz de processus aux températures au moins environ de 400.degree. C. La partie externe comporte un matériel isolant pour diminuer un gradient thermique entre le périmètre de la gaufrette et la clôture.
