A system and method for enhancing the speech quality of the mixed excitation linear predictive (MELP) coder and other low bit-rate speech coders. The system and method employ a plosive analysis/synthesis method, which detects the frame containing a plosive signal, applies a simple model to synthesize the plosive signal, and adds the synthesized plosive to the coded speech. The system and method remains compatible with the existing MELP coder bit stream.

Een systeem en een methode om de toespraakkwaliteit van de gemengde opwindings lineaire vooruitlopende (MELP) codeur en andere lage bit-rate toespraakcodeurs te verbeteren. Het systeem en de methode wenden een explosieve analyse/synthesemethode aan, die het kader ontdekt dat een explosief signaal bevat, een eenvoudig model toepast om het explosieve signaal samen te stellen, en samengestelde explosief aan de gecodeerde toespraak toevoegt. Het systeem en de methode blijven compatibel met de bestaande MELP codeursbitstroom.
