A process for the production of a styrene compound is provided. The process comprises reacting a Grignard reagent prepared from a tertiary butoxyphenyl halide with a vinyl halide in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the catalyst is at least one member selected from the group consisting of manganese catalyst, iron catalyst, cobalt catalyst and rhodium catalyst. The process overcomes the problems involved in the prior art, and is economical and safe. The styrene compound by the process is free from biphenyl.

Een proces voor de productie van een styreensamenstelling wordt verstrekt. Het proces bestaat reagerend uit een Grignard reagens die van een tertiair butoxyphenylhalogenide wordt voorbereid met een vinylhalogenide in aanwezigheid van een katalysator, waarin de katalysator minstens één lid dat uit de groep wordt geselecteerd die uit mangaankatalysator, ijzerkatalysator, kobaltkatalysator en rhodium katalysator bestaat is. Het proces overwint de moeilijkheden betrokken bij de vroegere kunst, en is economisch en veilig. De styreensamenstelling door het proces is vrij van biphenyl.
