The invention provides a ds-DNA oligomer which has from 25 to 150 base pairs, preferably 25 to 50 base pairs, and comprises the palindrome-containing sequence (one strand only shown) of formula (1): 5'B.sup.1. . . xN . . . B.sup.2 3' (1) wherein B.sup.1 is .sub.ttgg or .sub.ccaa and B.sup.2 is correspondingly .sub.ccaa or .sub.ttgg and xN represents from 1 to 30 native nucleotides of substantially the native promoter sequence, together with the complementary strand, the oligomer being modified to make it resistant to degradation and denaturing in vivo. This oligomer or a vector carrying the palindrome-containing sequence (but not necessarily with the modification and not limited by any upper limit on the length of the oligomer sequence) can be used to inhibit transcription of the cytokine gene in vivo and is therefore useful in the therapy of diseases associated with undesired or excess production of cytokine.

Die Erfindung liefert ein Oligomer DscDna, das von 25 bis 150 niedrige Paare hat, vorzugsweise 25 bis 50 niedrige Paare und enthält die palindrome-enthaltene Reihenfolge (eine Faser nur gezeigt) von Formel (1): 5'B.sup.1.. . Tw-Gondelstation. . . B.sup.2 3' (1), worin B.sup.1 sub.ttgg oder sub.ccaa und B.sup.2 ist, ist entsprechend sub.ccaa oder sub.ttgg und Tw-Gondelstation darstellt von 1 bis 30 gebürtige Nukleotide im wesentlichen der gebürtigen Fördererreihenfolge, zusammen mit der ergänzenden Faser, das Oligomer, das geändert wird, um es beständig zu bilden gegen Verminderung und denaturierend in vivo. Dieses Oligomer oder ein Vektor, der die palindrome-enthaltene Reihenfolge trägt (aber nicht notwendigerweise mit der Änderung und begrenzt nicht durch irgendeine obere Begrenzung auf der Länge der Oligomerreihenfolge) können verwendet werden, um Übertragung des cytokine Gens in vivo zu hemmen und sind folglich in der Therapie der Krankheiten nützlich, die mit unerwünschter oder Überproduktion von cytokine verbunden sind.
