Ether-capped poly(oxyalkylated) alcohol surfactants having superior grease cleaning abilities and improved spotting/filming benefits are provided. The alcohol surfactants have the formula: R.sup.1 O[CH.sub.2 CH(R.sup.3)O].sub.x [CH.sub.2 ].sub.k CH(OH)[CH.sub.2 ].sub.j OR.sup.2 wherein R.sup.1 is linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals having from 6 to 30 carbon atoms; R.sup.3 is H, or a linear aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; x is an integer having an average value from 1 to 40, wherein when x is 2 or greater R.sup.3 may be the same or different and k and j are integers having an average value of from 1 to 12; further wherein when x is 15 or greater and R.sup.3 is H and methyl, at least four of R.sup.3 are methyl, further wherein when x is 15 or greater and R.sup.3 includes H and from 1 to 3 methyl groups, then at least one R.sup.3 is ethyl, propyl or butyl, further wherein R.sup.2 can optionally be alkoxylated, wherein said alkoxy is selected from ethoxy, propoxy, butyloxy and mixtures thereof.

Los surfactants del alcohol tienen el fórmula: R.sup.1 O[CH.sub.2 CH(R.sup.3)O].sub.x [ CH.sub.2 ].sub.k CH(OH)[CH.sub.2 ].sub.j OR.sup.2 en donde R.sup.1 es radicales de la hidrocarburo linear o ramificada, saturada o no saturada, alifática o aromática que tienen a partir 1 a 30 átomos de carbón; R.sup.2 es radicales de la hidrocarburo linear o ramificada, saturada o no saturada, alifática o aromática que tienen a partir 6 a 30 átomos de carbón; R.sup.3 es H, o un radical de hidrocarburo alifático linear que tiene a partir 1 a 4 átomos de carbón; x es un número entero que tiene un valor medio a partir de la 1 a 40, en donde cuando x es 2 o mayor R.sup.3 puede ser el mismo o diferentes y k y j son los números enteros que tienen un valor medio de a partir la 1 a 12; fomente en donde cuando x es 15 o mayor y R.sup.3 es H y metílicos, por lo menos cuatro de R.sup.3 son metílico, más futuro en donde cuando x es 15 o mayor y R.sup.3 incluye H y a partir 1 a 3 grupos metílicos, entonces por lo menos un R.sup.3 es ethyl, propyl o butílico, más futuro en donde R.sup.2 puede opcionalmente estar alkoxylated, en donde alkoxy dicho se selecciona de ethoxy, de propoxy, de butyloxy y de mezclas de eso.
