The present invention relates to DNA molecules encoding enzymes which are involved in the starch synthesis of plants. These enzymes represent two different isotypes of the soluble starch synthase as well as a starch granule-bound starch synthase. This invention furthermore relates to vectors, bacteria, as well as to plant cells transformed with the DNA molecules described and to plants regenerated from them. Furthermore, the invention relates to starch that can be isolated from plants having an increased or reduced activity of the proteins described.

La presente invenzione riguarda le molecole del DNA che mettono gli enzimi in codice che sono coinvolti nella sintesi dell'amido delle piante. Questi enzimi rappresentano due isotypes differenti dello synthase solubile dell'amido come pure un amido granello-limita lo synthase dell'amido. Questa invenzione ancora si riferisce ai vettori, batteri, come pure alle cellule della pianta trasformate con le molecole del DNA descritte ed alle piante rigenerate da loro. Ancora, l'invenzione riguarda amido che può essere isolato dalle piante che hanno un'attività aumentata o ridotta delle proteine descritte.
