A shoe having improved stability and cushioning by incorporating aspects
similar to certain structures of the human foot. The shoe includes a shoe
sole having a contour similar to that of the human foot, including a sole
inner surface and a sole outer surface each having concavely rounded
portions. The shoe sole further includes a compartment or compartments to
provide cushioning similar to the fat pads of the human foot. The
compartment or compartments include a pressure transmitting medium, such
as a gas, gel or liquid. The shoe may also include a shoe upper enveloping
at least a part of the shoe sole to provide stability similar to that
provided by the outer surface of the human foot.
