A film of the present invention is an oriented film having a light-scattering property varying with an incident angle and is useful e.g. as a viewing angle improvement film effective for improving the picture quality of a liquid crystal display device, especially for expanding the viewing angle. This oriented film is composed of a thermoplastic polymer and contains a number of micro voids participating in the above scattering property in the film. It can be produced by uniaxially drawing a film composed of a thermoplastic polymer under temperature and draw-ratio conditions to form grooves on the surface of the film perpendicular to the drawing direction.

Un film de la présente invention est un film orienté ayant une propriété de lumière-dispersion changeant avec un angle d'incident et est utile par exemple comme film d'amélioration d'angle de visionnement efficace pour améliorer la qualité d'image d'un dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides, particulièrement pour augmenter l'angle de visionnement. Ce film orienté se compose de polymère thermoplastique et contient un certain nombre de vides micro participant à la propriété ci-dessus de dispersion dans le film. Il peut être produit en dessinant uniaxially un film composé de polymère thermoplastique dans des conditions de la température et de dessiner-rapport aux cannelures de forme sur la surface de la perpendiculaire de film à la direction de dessin.
