The present invention describes novel nitrosated and/or nitrosylated
H.sub.2 receptor antagonist compounds, and novel compositions comprising
at least one H.sub.2 receptor antagonist compound that is optionally
substituted with at least one NO and/or NO.sub.2 group, and, optionally,
at least one compound that donates, transfers or releases nitric oxide,
stimulates endogenous synthesis of nitric oxide, elevates endogenous
levels of endothelium-derived relaxing factor or is a substrate for nitric
oxide synthase. The present invention also describes methods for treating
and/or preventing gastrointestinal disorders; improving gastroprotective
properties of H.sub.2 receptor antagonists; decreasing the recurrence of
ulcers; facilitating ulcer healing; preventing and/or treating
inflammations and microbial infections, ophthalmic diseases and disorders,
multiple sclerosis, and viral infections; and decreasing or reducing the
gastrointestinal toxicity associated with the use of nonsteroidal
antiinflammatory compounds.
La presente invenzione descrive il romanzo nitrosated e/o nitrosylated i residui dell'antagonista del ricevitore H.sub.2 e composizioni nel romanzo che contengono almeno un residuo dell'antagonista del ricevitore H.sub.2 che facoltativamente si sostituisce con almeno un NO e/o gruppo NO.sub.2 e, facoltativamente, almeno un residuo che dona, trasferisce o libera l'ossido nitrico, stimola la sintesi endogena dell'ossido nitrico, eleva i livelli endogeni del fattore di distensione endothelium-derivato o è un substrato per lo synthase nitrico dell'ossido. La presente invenzione inoltre descrive i metodi per trattare e/o impedire i disordini gastrointestinali; migliorare le proprietà gastroprotective degli antagonisti del ricevitore H.sub.2; fare diminuire la ricorrenza delle ulcere; facilitare ulcera che healing; impedendo e/o trattando le infiammazioni ed infezioni microbiche, malattie e disordini oftalmici, sclerosi a placche ed infezioni virali; e facendo diminuire o riducendo la tossicità gastrointestinale si è associato con l'uso dei residui antiinflammatory nonsteroidal.
