Disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition, comprising a combination of a dose of rofecoxib or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a dose of oxcodone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, said combination in an amount sufficient to provide an analgesic effect in a human patient. Also disclosed is a method of effectively treating pain in humans or other mammals, comprising administering to the patient a combination of a dose of rofecoxib or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a dose of oxycodone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof such that the dosing interval of the rofecoxib overlaps with the dosing interval of the oxycodone, said combination in an amount sufficient to provide an analgesic effect in a human patient.

Gegeben enthält ein pharmazeutischer Aufbau frei und eine Kombination von einer Dosis von rofecoxib oder von pharmazeutisch annehmbarem Salz davon und von einer Dosis von oxcodone oder von pharmazeutisch annehmbarem Salz davon, besagte Kombination in einem ausreichenden Betrag, einen schmerzlindernden Effekt bei einem menschlichen Patienten zur Verfügung zu stellen. Auch gegeben enthält eine Methode von die Schmerz in den Menschen oder in anderen Säugetieren effektiv behandeln frei und zum Patienten eine Kombination einer Dosis von rofecoxib oder von pharmazeutisch annehmbarem Salz davon und der Dosis von oxycodone oder von pharmazeutisch annehmbarem Salz ausübend davon so, daß der dosierende Abstand des rofecoxib mit dem dosierenden Abstand des oxycodone sich deckt, besagte Kombination in einem ausreichenden Betrag, einen schmerzlindernden Effekt bei einem menschlichen Patienten zur Verfügung zu stellen.
