The use of a metabotropic glutamate receptor mGluR7 agonist for the facilitation of neurotransmitter release from a nerve ending and the treatment of neurological conditions, including epilepsy. Transgenic knockout non-human mammals are provided which lack the mGluR7 gene, suitable for studying mGluR7 and modulators thereof as well as epilepsy. Specifically provided is a transgenic mouse homozygous for an inactivated endogenous mGlu7 gene which exhibits symptoms of epileptic seizures.

L'uso di un agonista metabotropic del ricevitore mGluR7 del glutammato per la facilitazione del rilascio del neurotrasmettitore da un terminale nervoso ed il trattamento dei termini neurologici, compreso l'epilessia. I mammiferi non umani di knockout di Transgenic sono forniti che difettano del gene mGluR7, adatto a studiare mGluR7 ed i modulatori di ciò così come l'epilessia. Specificamente è fornito un mouse transgenic homozygous per un gene endogeno inattivato mGlu7 che esibisce i sintomi dei grippaggi epilettici.
