The use of one or more compounds chosen from the compounds of the formulae Ia and Ib ##STR1## the physiologically compatible salts of the compounds of the formulae Ia and Ib and the stereoisomeric forms of the compounds of the formulae Ia and Ib, where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and n have the meanings given in claim 1, for the preparation of a cosmetic formulation is advantageously suitable, e.g., for protecting cells, proteins and/or biomembranes of the human skin, for protecting the microflora of the human skin, and/or for stabilizing the skin barrier.

L'uso di uno o più compone scelto dai residui delle formule Ia ed il ## del ## STR1 di Ib i sali fisiologicamente compatibili dei residui delle formule Ia ed Ib e le forme stereoisomeric dei residui delle formule Ia ed Ib, dove R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 e la n hanno i significati dati nella rivendicazione 1, dato che la preparazione di una formulazione cosmetic è vantaggiosamente adatto, per esempio, a cellule di protezione, proteine e/o biomembranes della pelle umana, a proteggere la microflora della pelle umana e/o a stabilizzare la barriera della pelle.
