Optically active 1-substituted phenyl-2-nitro alcohol derivatives having the formula (1) ##STR1## and the process for producing thereof, and 1-substituted phenyl-2-amino alcohol derivatives having the formula (2) ##STR2## and the process for producing thereof from the optically active 1-substituted phenyl-2-nitro alcohol derivatives. From these nitro alcohols, pharmaceuticals such as (R)-albutamin and (R)-sarmeterol useful as a bronchodilator is obtained via optically active amino alcohols which are useful pharmaceutical intermediates.

Derivados ópticamente activos del alcohol de 1-substituted phenyl-2-nitro que tienen el ## del ## STR1 del fórmula (1) y el proceso para producir de eso, y derivados del alcohol de 1-substituted phenyl-2-amino que tienen el ## del ## STR2 del fórmula (2) y el proceso para producir de eso de los derivados ópticamente activos del alcohol de 1-substituted phenyl-2-nitro. De estos alcoholes nitro, productos farmacéuticos por ejemplo (R)-albutamin y (R)-sarmeterol útil pues un broncodilatador se obtiene vía los alcoholes amino ópticamente activos que son intermedios farmacéuticos útiles.
