The present invention is directed to novel compounds represented by structural Formulas (I) and (I-a): ##STR1## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.4a, R.sup.4b, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8, R.sup.9, n, and X are described herein. The invention is also concerned with pharmaceutical formulations comprising these novel compounds as active ingredients and the use of the novel compounds and their formulations in the treatment of certain disorders. The compounds of this invention are serotonin agonists and antagonists and are useful in the control or prevention of central nervous system disorders including obesity, anxiety, depression, psychosis, schizophrenia, sleep and sexual disorders, migraine and other conditions associated with cephalic pain, social phobias, and gastrointestinal disorders such as dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract motility.

La presente invenzione è diretta verso i residui del romanzo rappresentati dalle formule strutturali (i) e (I-a): ## del ## STR1 o un sale farmaceuticamente accettabile di ciò, in cui R.sup.1, R.sup.4a, R.sup.4b, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8, R.sup.9, la n e la X sono descritti qui. L'invenzione inoltre è interessata delle formulazioni farmaceutiche che contengono questi residui del romanzo come ingredienti attivi e l'uso dei residui del romanzo e delle loro formulazioni nel trattamento di determinati disordini. I residui di questa invenzione sono agonisti ed antagonisti della serotonina e sono utili nel controllo o la prevenzione dei disordini del sistema nervoso centrale compresi l'obesità, ansia, depressione, psychosis, la schizofrenia, sonno e disordini, emicrania ed altra sessuali condiziona collegato con dolore cephalic, i phobias sociali ed i disordini gastrointestinali quale disfunzione della motilità del tratto gastrointestinale.
