Disclosed are carboxamide-substituted benzimidazole derivatives of general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein the groups X, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may have the meanings given in the claims and specification, processes for preparing them and the use of carboxamide-substituted benzimidazole derivatives as pharmaceutical compositions, particularly as pharmaceutical compositions with a tryptase-inhibiting activity.

Sono rilevati i derivati carbossamide-sostituiti del benzimidazolo del ## generale del ## STR1 di formula (i) in cui i gruppi X, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 e R.sup.4 possono avere i significati dati nei reclami e nella specifica, procedimenti per la preparazione loro e dell'uso dei derivati carbossamide-sostituiti del benzimidazolo come composizioni farmaceutiche, specialmente come composizioni farmaceutiche con un'attività d'inibizione.
