The invention provides hybrid oligonucleotides having phosphorothioate or
phosphorodithioate internucleotide linkages, and both deoxyribonucleosides
and ribonucleosides or 2'-substituted ribonucleosides. Such hybrid
oligonucleotides have superior properties of duplex formation with RNA,
nuclease resistance, and RNase H activation.
