The present invention relates to 1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivatives
containing a structural element of formula (I)

G.sub.1, G.sub.2, G.sub.3, G.sub.4 are independently C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl
with the proviso that at least one is not methyl or G.sub.1 and G.sub.2 or
G.sub.3 and G.sub.4, or G.sub.1 and G.sub.2 and G.sub.3 and G.sub.4
together form a C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl group;
G.sub.5, G.sub.6 independently are H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, phenyl,
naphthyl or a group COOC.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl and X represents a group
such that the free radical X. derived from X is capable of initiating
polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, with the proviso
that compounds A1 and A2 are excluded

Further subjects of the invention are a polymerizable composition
comprising a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and b) a
1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivative, a process for polymerizing
ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and the use of
1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivatives for controlled polymerization.
The intermediate N-oxyl derivatives, a composition of the N-oxyl
derivatives with ethylenically unsaturated monomers and a free radical
initiator X., as well as a process for polymerization are also subjects of
the present invention.
De onderhavige uitvinding heeft op 1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivaten een structureel element van formule (I) ## STR1 ## waarin G.sub.1, G.sub.2, G.sub.3, G.sub.4 onafhankelijk C.sub.1 - alkyl bevatten C.sub.6 op voorwaarde dat minstens men niet methyl is of G.sub.1 en G.sub.2 of G.sub.3 en G.sub.4, of G.sub.1 die betrekking en G.sub.2 en G.sub.3 en G.sub.4 vormen samen een C.sub.5 - C.sub.12 cycloalkylgroep zijn; G.sub.5, G.sub.6 Onafhankelijk zijn H, C.sub.1 - alkyl C.sub.18, fenyl, naphthyl of een groep COOC.sub.1 - alkyl C.sub.18 en X vertegenwoordigt een groep dusdanig dat vrije basis X. die uit X wordt afgeleid polymerisatie van wat ethyleen betreft onverzadigde monomeren kan in werking stellen, op voorwaarde dat de samenstellingen A1 en A2 verder uitgesloten ## STR2 ## zijn zijn de onderwerpen van de uitvinding een polymerizable samenstelling a) minstens uit één wat ethyleen betreft onverzadigd monomeer en b) een 1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivaat bestaan, een proces om onverzadigde monomeren wat ethyleen betreft te polymeriseren, en het gebruik die van 1-alkoxy-polyalkyl-piperidine derivaten voor gecontroleerde polymerisatie. De middenderivaten van n-Oxyl, een samenstelling van de derivaten van n-Oxyl met wat ethyleen betreft onverzadigde monomeren en een vrije basisinitiatiefnemer X., evenals een proces voor polymerisatie zijn ook onderwerpen van de onderhavige uitvinding.
