Antiatherosclerotic agents are provided which are represented by Formulas I or II: ##STR1## wherein R is ##STR2## wherein R.sub.9, R.sub.10, R.sub.11, R.sub.12, R.sub.13, and R.sub.14 are each, independently, hydrogen or a lower alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms; R.sub.6, and R.sub.7 are each, independently, hydrogen, lower alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, or CH.sub.2 COOR.sub.8, where R.sub.8 is a lower alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms; and X is O or S; R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms; R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are each, independently, hydrogen or halogen; and R.sub.5 is a lower alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
