A semicontinuous process is provided for the preparation of
4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone, comprising the following steps:
(a) reaction of phenol with a sulfonating agent,
(b) suspension of the resulting crude product in water heated to at least
40.degree. C., which is free of inert organic solvents and can contain
residual amounts of unreacted phenol, and filtration of the product, and
(c) recycling of the resulting educt-containing and/or product-containing
waste streams into the preparative process,
wherein, in carrying out step (b), the crude product and water are used in
a weight ratio of 85:15 to 55:45.
Een semicontinuous proces wordt verstrekt voor de voorbereiding van sulfon 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl, bestaand uit de volgende stappen: (a) reactie van fenol met een sulfonerende agent, (b) opschorting van het resulterende ruwe product in water dat aan minstens 40.degree. C. wordt verwarmd, die vrij van inerte organische oplosmiddelen zijn en overblijvende hoeveelheden unreacted fenol kunnen bevatten, en filtratie van het product, en (c) recycling van het voortvloeien educt-bevat en/of product-bevattende afvalstromen in het voorbereidende proces, waarin, in het uitvoeren van stap (b), het ruwe product en het water in een gewichtsverhouding van 85:15 tot 55:45 worden gebruikt.
