A coating machine for applying a flowable coating substance to a sheet
material to improve its surface. The coating machine has a series
construction which lends itself to easy modification and versatile use.
The coating machine includes, in a sheet conveyance direction, a first
coating unit for applying a flowable substance to a front side of the
sheet material, a sheet turning unit for reversing the position of the
sheet, a first coating unit for applying a flowable substance to a reverse
side of the sheet material, and sheet delivery unit. The coating units may
have similar or identical constructions with interchangeable dosing
systems.
