A transparent soap bar comprising:
(iii) from 30 to 60% by weight of the soap bar of total fatty matter
wherein from 1 to 15% by weight is the salt of 12-hydroxystearic acid or a
precursor thereof;
(iv) from 20 to 50% by weight of the soap bar of at least one polyhydric
alcohol; and
(iii) water.
