In a transmission system, a modulator and a fractional frequency divider
are introduced into the control loop of a voltage-controlled oscillator.
It is shown that the benefit of this is a reduction in noise associated
with the reduction of noise due to using a divider with a lower division
coefficient. In one embodiment, the fractional divider is obtained by
selecting different dividers in turn in accordance with temporal
proportions corresponding to a required division fraction.
