A microbe-inhibiting (MI) compound is incorporated into a biodegradable
polymer composition most preferably, a starch-based polymer, to inhibit
microbial growth and to attenuate the biodegradation of the polymer
composition. Such a composition is used to manufacture any of a number of
articles, particularly those that come in contact with foods such as foam
containers and fruit shock absorber nets as well as packing materials such
as loose fill pellets.
