Primers and probes derived from the HIV-1 pol gene which facilitate
detection and/or quantification of all presently known genotypes of HIV-1
(A-I and O). Disclosed sequences may be used in a variety of amplification
and non-amplification formats for detection of HIV nucleic acids.
