A cordless telephone controls the handset unit power based on both RSSI
value and CRC error rate (CRCE). The base unit requests the handset unit
to set the power to "L" when the handset unit power information is "H",
the CRCE is judged to be not more than a predetermined rate, and the RSSI
value is judged to be not less than a first predetermined value. The base
unit further requests the handset unit to set the power to "H" when the
handset unit information is "L" and the RSSI value is judged to be not
more than a second predetermined value. Moreover, the base unit requests
the handset unit to set to the power to "H" when the handset power
information is "L", the RSSI value is judged to be larger than a second
predetermined value, and the CRCE is judged to be larger than a
predetermined rate.
