Couplers for hair coloring compositions for oxidative dyeing of hair are
compounds of formula (1):

wherein X is selected from halogen; R.sup.3 is selected from the group
consisting of C.sub.1 to C.sub.2 alkyl and hydroxyethyl; and R, R.sup.1
and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from C.sub.1 to C.sub.22 alkyl
or C.sub.1 to C.sub.22 mono or dialkyl groups, or two of R, R.sup.1 and
R.sup.2 together with the the nitrogen atom to which they are attached
form a C.sub.3 to C.sub.6 cycloaliphatic or a C.sub.3 to C.sub.14 aromatic
group, the cycloaliphatic or aromatic group optionally containing in their
rings one or more hetero atoms selected from O, S and N atoms.
De koppelingen voor haar het kleuren samenstellingen voor het oxydatieve verven van haar zijn samenstellingen van formule (1): ## STR1 ## waarin X uit halogeen wordt geselecteerd; R.sup.3 wordt uit de groep geselecteerd die uit C.sub.1 aan alkyl en hydroxyethyl C.sub.2 bestaat; en R, R.sup.1 en R.sup.2 elk worden onafhankelijk geselecteerd uit C.sub.1 aan alkyl C.sub.22 of C.sub.1 aan mono of dialkyl groepen C.sub.22, of twee van R, R.sup.1 en R.sup.2 samen met het stikstofatoom waaraan zij in bijlage zijn vormen een C.sub.3 aan C.sub.6 cycloaliphatic of een C.sub.3 aan aromatische groep C.sub.14, de cycloaliphatic of aromatische groep die naar keuze in hun ringen één of meerdere heteroatomen bevat die uit de atomen van O, van S en van N worden geselecteerd.
